Glitter Dipped Fortune Cookie Party Favors - New Years Eve Dessert Ideas
These fancy fortune cookie treats are dressed up with candy and/or chocolate, colorful sprinkles and edible sparkly bling. Sure to be a HUGE hit at your next party or special occasion!
The process is super simple – just melt the candy melts in a small microwave safe container (heat in 30 second increments, stirring after each, until completely smooth), dip the fortune cookie, and then sprinkle. Set the freshly dipped cookies on a sheet of parchment paper until the candy firms. Easy peasy!
I used bright white candy melts along with rainbow sprinkles, confetti sprinkles, crystal sugar sprinkles and gold edible glitter, and these quick treats were party ready in only 15 minutes!
I used a stiff paint brush to sprinkle the glitter over the melted candy, and the results were stunning! These would be perfect for weddings, showers, and parties of all kinds – especially New Year’s Eve!
Since I thought these would be perfect for New Year’s Eve parties, I whipped up these fun party favor treat bag toppers that read, “Wishing You Good Fortune in the New Year!” (Download link is at the bottom of the post) Super cute!
They’d also make a sweet little gift for friends and neighbors, don’t you think?

- ¾ cup light brown sugar, packed

- In a medium bowl mix together the flour, baking soda and the salt: Set aside.
- In a large bowl beat together the butter, sugars, vanilla extract and the vinegar until smooth. Beat in the egg just until combined.
- Mix the flour mixture into the wet mixture just until combined. Stir in the chips.
- Using a large cookie scoop (about 2 rounded tablespoons) drop about 3 inches apart onto cookie sheet.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, they will look light brown around the edges and will look underdone in the center. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle each cookie with a little sea salt. Allow to sit on the sheet for 10 minutes before moving to a rack to cool.
RED HOT COOKIES
10 Minute Easy RED HOT COOKIES
Ingredients
- 2 sticks unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup grounded up red hots
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 6 oz white chocolate bark or almond bark
Instructions
- Using a food processor, grind up the red hots until they are in powder form. You will need 1/2 cup grinded up for the cookie, grind a little more if you would like to dust the chocolate on top.
- In a large bowl, mix the butter up for a few minutes until it’s light and creamy. Add in the vanilla, powdered sugar, 1/2 cup grinded red hots and cornstarch and mix until everything is well combined and the dough comes together. If the dough seems crumbly, mix a little more and it will come together.
- Divide the dough in half and roll into a log that is about 6 inches long. Wrap the log up in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour or longer.
- Set the dough out for a few minutes and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Slice the dough into 1/2 inch slices and place onto a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 minutes and allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes before moving to a cooling rack or wax paper.
- Once the cookies are cooled, melt down the chocolate bark either using a double broiler method or 30 seconds in the microwave, stir and another 10-20 seconds until it’s melted. Dip each cookie, drizzle with chocolate or decorate however you would like.
- Store in an airtight container. These are really good second day! The red hot taste will become stronger as they completely cool.

Baileys Chocolate Cheesecake
INGREDIENTS
CRUST INGREDIENTS:1 1/2 cups chocolate graham cracker (or chocolate cookie) crumbs
1/3 cup powdered (confectioner’s) sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup (half a stick) butter, melted
CHEESECAKE INGREDIENTS:
3 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened (I used 1/3 less fat)
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
3 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup Bailey’s (or other Irish cream liqueuor)
CHOCOLATE GANACHE INGREDIENTS (OPTIONAL):
1/2 cup heavy cream (or half and half)
4 ounces dark chocolate
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, mix together the cookie crumbs, confectioners’ sugar and 1/3 cup cocoa. Add melted butter and stir until well mixed. Pat into the bottom of a 9-inch well-greased springform pan. Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes; set aside. Increase oven temperature to 450 degrees.
- In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, white sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa and flour. Beat at medium speed until blended and smooth. (Try not to over-mix!) Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend in the sour cream and Irish cream liqueur; mixing on low speed until blended. Pour filling over baked crust.
- Optional: To prevent cracking in the cheesecake, I’m a big fan of water baths! Just fill a 9×13 (or whatever size) glass pan halfway with water, and place it on the bottom rack while the oven preheats, and then while the cheesecake cooks.
- Place the cheesecake in the oven on the shelf above the water bath, and bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 250 degrees, and continue baking for 60 minutes.
- With a knife, loosen cake from rim of pan. Let cool, then remove the rim of pan. Chill for a few hours before serving.
- Optional: To prepare the ganache, place the chocolate chips in a bowl. Then heat the cream (or half and half) in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until it is almost boiling. Remove from heat, and pour over the chocolate chips and let sit for 30 seconds. Then stir until the chocolate chips have melted and are mixed in well. Pour over the top of the cheesecake, and sprinkle with chocolate chips or chocolate shavings if you’d like.

Homemade Samoas Bars
Ingredients:
Cookie Base:
Cookie Base:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 cups shredded coconut (sweetened or unsweetened)
- 12-oz good-quality chewy caramels
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp milk
- 10 oz. dark or semisweet chocolate (chocolate chips are ok)
Directions:
Cookie Base:
Cookie Base:
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan, or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together sugar and butter, until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
- Working at a low speed, gradually beat in flour and salt until mixture is crumbly, like wet sand. The dough does not need to come together.
- Pour crumbly dough into prepapred pan and press into an even layer.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until base is set and edges are lightly browned.
- Cool completely on a wire rack before topping.
- Preheat oven to 300.
- Spread coconut evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet (preferably one with sides) and toast 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until coconut is golden. Cool on baking sheet, stirring occasionally. Set aside.
- Unwrap the caramels and place in a large microwave-safe bowl with milk and salt. Cook on high for 3-4 minutes, stopping to stir a few times to help the caramel melt. When smooth, fold in toasted coconut with a spatula.
- Put dollops of the topping all over the shortbread base. Using the spatula, spread topping into an even layer. Let topping set until cooled.
- When cooled, cut into 30 bars with a large knife or a pizza cutter (it’s easy to get it through the topping).
- Once bars are cut, melt chocolate in a small bowl. Heat on high in the microwave in 45 second intervals, stirring thoroughly to prevent scorching.
- Dip the base of each bar into the chocolate and place on a clean piece of parchment or wax paper.
- Transfer all remaining chocolate (or melt a bit of additional chocolate, if necessary) into a piping bag or a ziploc bag with the corner snipped off and drizzle bars with chocolate to finish.
- Let chocolate set completely before storing in an airtight container.
- Makes 30 bar cookies.
